How To Pack/Travel light- For a city break

Now, I am certainly no expert, not the best start to a blog, I know; I am always complaining about forgetting something, wishing I had bought that item that in my head seemed it would change my entire wardrobe. BUT  with the amount that I travel I have mastered a few hacks that I wanted to pass on. Having just got back from Berlin (Blog to follow soon), I wanted to share some ideas with you.

Mostly likely you are working with hand baggage allowance which doesn’t leave much room but for a few days, even up to a week in some cases, it’s all you need to pack the absolute essentials. It always takes the hassle our of the traveling part, which makes the over all experience more enjoyable.

Short and sweet, here are my tips on- How To Pack/Travel Light For A City Break.

A trusty holdall.

I absolutesb2507_blackly swear by my Sweaty Betty holdall. I bought the original holdall which I believe is still available but, pictured here is a beautiful alternative- the Union Jack Hold All. The carry straps go comfortably over your shoulders and fit like a back pack if you have to lug it around town or the extended strap is ideal. It is really spacious and there is even a section for your laptop. You cal also carry items under which is ideal if you to separate clothes if you have been to the beach or simply clothes you won’t wear again. TO SHOP THIS ITEM CLICK HERE.

The perfect back pack

Again, I am all about that Sweaty Betty lifestyle. If I am doing anything outdoorsy then of course it’s my Vaude day packs. However for traveling and exploring a new city, my Sweaty Betty all sports backpack is that one item I worship like a total geek. I am rarely seen without it off the mountain. There are plenty of compartments and it’s light weight. TO SHOP THIS ITEM, CLICK HERE.

Your favorite comfy shoes

My conveStockSnap_BD31KHIDA7rse have become my off mountain uniform. They seem to go with EVERYTHING and few could disagree that no matter what the occasion converse are perfect. Whenever heading on a city break I am always sure to take my converse; to go sight seeing, chilled park hangs and matching with a cute dress to head out for drinks! Stress free packing.

I am one of those people that has always LOVED wearing my sunglasses. I mean, I was bullied for ever little thing in high school, even down to the fact that when it was sunny, guess what- I wore sunglasses. I digress. I am never without my sunglasses and I recently picked up a few awesome pairs on ASOS. They look similar to the Ray Ban round metal frames but without the price tag.

Think simple for your #OOTD

My mum always jokes that I have no idea what I am doing if I am not wearing layers of back country clothing. Truth is, I have always had a very distinct sense of style. I love sports luxe. Probably why I love Sweaty Betty so much but pairing basic sport pieces with the odd statement item like a patterned jacket. That’s why whenever I am traveling on a city break I think simple. My face statement leggings with a loose fit T or simple a basic light cotton jumper and a cute skirt. Plus my converse of course. It never fails!

I hope you found this blog useful. Let me know what you think. The Berlin Travel blog is coming VERY soon indeed but until then. . . .

Conscious Caucasus – Europe’s Last Wilderness | VAUDE

Another absolutely incredible demonstration of Vaude’s deep and meaningful connection with the environment. This video features some really amazing females outdoor enthusiasts and all round athletes, but also helps us remember to be respectful of wherever we choose to ride and indeed whatever discipline that be in- whether it is Skiing/Snowboarding or MTB and hiking. This respect encompasses our literal environment foot print but also our impact on local wild life and and eco-system of the area.

I very often head to their YouTube page to watch their array of edits and promos as they all have a clear message. I am really loving how strongly they feature empowered females on the channel and this video is a top example.

Whats more you will learn a thing or two about Armenia, I think I speak for all of us when I say we could stand to gather a few more valuable factoids about this clearly beautiful and naturally ore inspiring country.

This is what Vaude had to say:

The Caucasus is perhaps Europe’s last wilderness. The mountain range between Europe and Asia is home to the Caucasus leopard, Europe’s last big cat, and many other endangered species. For over twenty years, the WWF has been helping to protect as much as possible of the Caucasus’ natural regions under threat from people and has been helping to make these areas available to the public for sustainable tourism. A great opportunity for bikers Sylvia Leimgruber and Susanne Huth. Together they set off to see learn about the WWF project and to personally experience the unique hospitality & culture of Armenia.

Now do I have a pretty big update for you lovely people!

So some of you may know that I have been working along side Love Support Unite charity and the the brand Love Specs. I have been helping them with their social media as gosh knows, I love social media. It is a truly beautiful organisation and It in genuinely  a labor of love. All the late nights and many hours spent on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now Snapchat too- is just wonderful as the path that we are is one that leads to promise and to the future.

Who are Love Support Unite?

Trying to steer clear of the word charity in it’s most literal sense, Love Support Unite are more of a meeting of minds. With 6 pillars of hope and plans for the future, they try to change lives for communities in Malawi. Malawi being top 10 world’s poorest country, yet a country so full of culture, potential and bursting at the seams with love; is a country that needs a little helping hand. We don’t work for them, we work with them, helping them empower themselves and find a genuine level of sustainability in all aspects of daily life, to ensure they can leave crippling poverty behind. Through: Clean water, clean energy, reliable crops, sustainable education, local business loans, medical care and even helping source materials for building work, care for children and overall improvement in the local community. Using the hashtag #YouAreLove, this empowering idea is putting love at the forefront. They raise money through you generous people, via one time or monthly donations but also through the sale of their product that embodies their ideas- Love Specs.

Running their social media means being up close and personal in all aspects of Love Support Unite. Trying to understand what it must be like to live in Malawi and more over, try to thrive and grow for your family and your community. That is why, when they suggested I should go on the next volunteer trip in October I knew I had to go. I was worried about money; this winter I really need to focus and be committed, so I knew I needed to save money. However, I also knew that this summer has been a soul searching journey for me to becoming genuinely happy with myself and the world around me. This is the part of me that spoke and said I needed to do this to gain a better understanding of all that life encompasses, all that is out there- outside of the snow sports world. I want to live my life from a stance of compassion, love and care and I know that going to Malawi and being given to opportunity to see all parts of Love Support Unites’ work will help me grow and appreciate all that I am so lucky to have. This is something bigger and more important that me and I want to be just a teeny tiny part or making anyone’s life just a bit more easy.

So there you have it, for just 10 short days in October, right before the ski and snowboard show, I am jetting off to Malawi. I think the part I am most intrigued about is female empowerment. A subject so close to my heart I hope to help women in the communities in Malawi, see how all powerful and wonderful they are. I will be Snap chatting and filming while I am there so you can see for yourselves what incredible work Love Support Unite.
